Saint Margaret, who, born in Hungary and wed to Malcolm II king of Scotland, bore eight children and was exceedingly solicitous for the good of the kingdom and of the Church, uniting liberality toward the poor to prayer and fasting, and so presented an example of the perfect wife, mother and queen.
