On the day of 27 December
The feast of Saint John, Apostle and Evangelist, son of Zebedee, who, with his brother, James, and Peter was a witness to the transfiguration, and also of the passion of the Lord and from him by the cross received Mary as his mother. In his Gospel and other writings he shows himself to be the theologian who, deemed worthy to contemplate the glory of the Word Incarnate, made known what he saw.
