The feast of the holy martyred Innocents. Boys, who were slain at Bethlehem of Judea by the impious king Herod so that, although the infant Jesus, whom the Magi had adored, disappeared from among them, they have been honored since the earliest centuries of the Church as the first fruits of all who were to shed their blood for the sake of God and the Lamb.
