On the day of 21 January
The commemoration of Saint Agnes, virgin and martyr, who, while still a girl, offered the supreme witness of faith and consecrated the pledge of her chastity in martyrdom; for she overcame both her age and the tyrant, gained the greatest admiration of the peoples, and, even more, garnered greater glory for God. The burial of her body is honored on this day.
